The Cox Organization has had the great fortune of producing and providing excellent food and beverage services to several special events throughout the summer and fall of 2013!  Our spring season kicked-off with Thunder Over Louisville, which celebrates the beginning of the Kentucky Derby Festival and The Kentucky Derby.  We always enjoy starting our season in beautiful, Louisville, Kentucky!

Following the Derby, we traveled to Kansas City, Missouri for Rockfest at Liberty Memorial Park.  Headliners included Alice in Chains, Seether, and Papa Roach.  The weather was gorgeous and our new item, the Rebel Burger was a huge hit!

June and July hosted events at the Kentucky Motor Speedway, where we ran over twenty food and beverage locations, Red White & Boom and Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, Country Concert in Fort Loramie, Ohio, and the NBHA Youth World Championships in Perry, Georgia, which hosted participants from all over the world!

August kicked off with the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, Ohio, which shattered its 12-day attendance record, with estimated attendance reaching 903,824, an increase of eight percent over its previous record.  Hosted by the Ohio Expo Center, the fair features a spectacular midway, big-name entertainment, hundreds of exhibits, and one of the largest junior fair shows in the country.  General Manager, Virgil Strickler states, “The fair is safe, clean, and has a comforting, family-friendly atmosphere.  We are constantly making improvements and working to beautify our facility…”

We traveled to Bristol, Tennessee to Bristol Motor Speedway during mid-August for the 2013 Food City 250.  This unique track has quite a history, and always provides exciting races for spectators and participants alike.

August closed with the Montgomery County Fair at the historic Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Dayton, Ohio.  The Cox Organization, in cooperation with the Montgomery County Agricultural Society, was thrilled to produce the 2013 fair, which experienced a 55% increase in attendance with approximately 60,000 people through the gates for the 6-day event.  The 2013 Montgomery County Fair featured rides, games, great food, two demolition derbies, tractor pulls and martial arts.  Agriculture was also a huge part of the fair and one animal broke a sales record at the annual Sale of Champions!

In October, Concessions by Cox provided over thirty food and beverage points of sale to fairgoers at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia.  Despite tropical storm threats and a government shutdown, the fair experienced increased attendance, in part due to an increase in military admissions, which were free.  Executive director Randy Moore said, “This fair’s performance was extremely satisfying in light of the turmoil going on around us.  Fairgoers in search of an escape turned to our traditional, agriculture-centered fair.”

October was also host to the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio, the largest single-breed horse show in the world.  The event attracts over 650,000 people to the Columbus area, bringing more than $180 million to the Ohio economy.

We are currently closing our season at the Coastal Carolina Fair in Ladson, South Carolina.  Beautiful fall weather abounds and everyone remains in good spirits!  Our staff celebrated Halloween in costume, and they are very much looking forward to returning to their families after several months of traveling “on the road.”

Again, we are so fortunate to be associated with several incredible events and venues throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Missouri, and Georgia, and look forward to another safe and profitable year in 2014!  For more information regarding our events, please contact our Ohio or Georgia office.  You may also download a copy of our 2014 vendor application using the link above!
